Response to the Video

Now, I'd like you to respond. What do you think the title of the video (The Machine is Us/ing Us) means? How does Web 2.0 affect someone who is ready to enter the workforce? How does it affect people who are already in the workforce? What do you think it means when it says that we will have to rethink everything?

I think the title suits the video really well. The web is in a bizarre way using us and at the same time we are using it. The world is using the web to instantly connects with others and this has TOTALLY transformed everything from the workplace, to school to something as simple as running errands. All of the things I just listed can be done from a computer.
As far as how the Web 2.0 affects a person about to enter the workforce, the web provides them with the tools to be able to connect or network with others to benefit the company and themselves. It has also changed the way people communicate. We have to pay attention to minor details when we write to not appear as we are angry, or too excited, etc. in things such as an email or instant message. The web has caused people who have been in the workforce for a long time to lag behind in the latest technology because they are already accustomed to and comftorable with the waythat they learned. For instance, my mom has been a teacher for 30 years and she does not do well with computers. The school provided computer workshops for all the teachers as the web became more popular but still, my mom and many of her colleagues prefer the traditional way of doing things. However, my dad is a computer technician and his business has boomed since computers have became basically an essential.
There are so many things to consider now that computers are so popular and the preferred and most used means of communication. As the video pointed out, things like privacy have been totally invaded now that people can hack into others personal information. Security is extremely important for anyone sharing personal information over the internet. Also, people are also worried about the United States tracking them legally. Even though people may not be doing anything wrong while on the internet, their privacy still feels invaded know that secret service can watch them. Also, important things like copyrights and authorships have to be considered because now that people can publish things and have the world be able to instantly access them people are able to claim things that really arent theirs. The web is essential and since the invention of it we have become extremely productive as individuals and as a society.
